Hellooo!
It feels like October just flew by and we are now fully in the midst of “going out” season! Events are here! The holidays approach and they come quickly. This is a fun time of year, albeit hectic at times, and definitely requires some stamina. It’s fun to be invited to things, but then there’s also the excitement/panic of “What am I going to wear?!” You may be familiar with the feeling. There’s a particular balance to strike between looking cool, not trying too hard, not being underdressed, being chic and still feeling like myself! I thought I’d share a few recent looks for some nights out that made me feel good and fun and comfortable! Going to events and socializing can be nerve wracking for a lot of us (fun with social anxiety), so my number one tip is to walk in with a smile and say hi to people…, but number two is wearing something with a little bit of intrigue can be a nice conversation starter :)
A FUN DRESS
A few weeks ago, my husband and I were invited to a big fancy party to celebrate the opening of the new Loro Piana store in Beverly Hills. The attire was cocktail, so I wanted to wear something that was elevated but still fun and definitely not stuffy. While being dressed by the brand would have been lovely, I felt really fab wearing this gorgeous polka dot number from Ciao Lucia! Truly a perfect dress and is suuuper cute in person. It’s really versatile and I’ll be wearing this through the holidays and to many a wedding in the future. I paired it with my forever faves you may recognize from The Investment Portfolio post, my Acne Blazer and Chanel Slingbacks. Plus my go-to evening bag from Khaite. This is another fun, gorgeous polkadot dress I highly recommend wearing to all the parties you have coming up.
A COOL JACKET
I threw on this jacket on a whim when heading out to the TWP store opening (I guess I’ve been going to a lot of store openings lol). It got so many compliments that night and surprisingly landed me on The Cut’s Best Dressed list for the week! Best Outerwear is an award I didn’t know I needed, but thank you to the academy for the great honor. It’s from the long sold out Claire Rose x NA-KD collab from last year. (Here’s a kind of similar option from Lou Lou Studios) I paired it with Jamie Haller’s excellent new Easy Jeans that sit low on the hips and look cool and slouchy. I wore them with my new favorite boots from Banana Republic. SO chic and comfortable. I recently shot a campaign for Banana and can report that the clothes and accessories are very good as they’re now under the expert eye of Zac Posen. I finished the look with my my fave lil suede bag from Little Liffner and as usual, my Dorsey Lucien earrings. As an alt, this red number from Aligne is on my great jacket wishlist.
JEANS + A TOP
When in doubt, I go for jeans and a button down. I make sure to go for something that is in a luxe fabric like silk or a crisply pressed white shirt or something slightly sheer to make sure it feels chic and sexy not business-y or daytime. This week my mom and I threw a Harvest Party for our wine company, Lorenza. It was a super fun night which definitely called for my trusty Lucchese cowboy boots. I personally think a cowboy boot is the perfect shoe to wear for many occasions, because it can easily dress up or down and is just between a heel and a flat. Plus they just feel fun and festive. This pair is a nice gateway boot for a good price! I wore an old pair of Doen Diana jeans in a sold out wash, these from Re/Done look really nice as an alt. On top I wore a lovely linen blouse from Alix of Bohemia that felt appropriately autumnal! Never not wearing my Matteau belt.
I wore a similar fail-safe look to another store opening (ha!), this time in Ojai for my friend Carly Home. White jeans, the aforementioned cowboy boots, white silky blouse from Matteau. I love white on white with a strong black accessory. I felt cool and comfortable, which is the goal tbh! This black satin top is really nice to have in the closet as a going out top that’s hot but still chill.
FUN N FLIRTY
This lil dress from Ref has served me very well. I wore it to my husband’s movie premiere at SXSW and everyone thought it was Miu Miu, he he. Kristen Bell also wears it in Nobody Wants This to try to look demure. I wore it the other night to an event in the Hollywood Hills for the cute and arty jewelry brand Monbouquette. I think it’s fun and flirty and it always gets compliments. Wore it with some Madewell boots and again my blazer. Speaking of blazers, this one from Nili Lotan is gorgeous and on sale! The girls at Monbouquette were pinning jewelry and brooches on their blazers last night and it was a very chic look I will want to try soon!

In the meantime, the wonderful
of Long Live asked me and some very cool gals about a piece they love that cost less than $200 and we’ve had for over 5 years. It’s a really great post, thanks for including me and my favorite J.Crew snake pants! Also, we just watched the Martha Stewart doc on Netflix and I highly recommend checking it out. She has such a remarkable story and is an inspiration in so many ways. This weekend, we’re trying to see Anora and of course getting our votes in!
