Howdy!
It’s sweater weather!!! Or will be soon, lol, looking at you California. There was a time when I just moved from Napa Valley to NY in 2006 that I didn’t own one sweater. How is that even possible you may think?! But it was true. I was unprepared for real weather. Luckily, my darling friend Leslie gave me a men’s burgundy Polo knit V neck (she had another in navy blue), and they became our friendship sweaters! Thanks to Leslie for helping out a friend in need! Since then, my love of sweaters has blossomed and my shelves overflow with knitwear. I’m never not looking to add to the collection (as evidenced below). This season I’m really drawn to red, burgundy, butter yellow, sky blue and navy. I’m not a sweater snob, the list I’ve compiled touches all price points as sometimes the super expensive ones don’t hold up as well as you’d hope. Without further ado, here are twenty beautiful sweaters I would love to wear all season long.
Let’s begin with some color…
My fave cherry red cardi by Doen. So cute and super soft. Been wearing this all week and no sign of stopping anytime soon! I throw it over my shoulders for a *pop of color* or wear it as a top with jeans.
How cute is this red and burgundy stripe by Guest in Residence? Rugby knit in sweater form! Sign me up. Such a great color combo.
This Ref boyfriend cashmere has already become my most reached for sweater. It’s easy, cheerful and cool. Brings joy to my everyday outfit of jeans and sneakers. I have a few colors in this and for $168, why not?!
Donni cotton cashmere - comes back 10/8! Set those alarms people! Their sweaters fly off the digital shelves and I can see why. The cranberry color, the cut, all look perfect to me.
When I lived in NY I would buy a new v-neck from Joseph every season and wear them to death. Yes, an investment but really the best. This deep burgundy color is beautiful and way more versatile than you think.
Always a good idea to have a few merino wool layers. These J.Crew crewnecks are really chic and give 90s minimalism. And will save you when it gets actually cold.
This Khaite number is delicious. Love that the color is called Yuzu. Hard to see above, but click to see the amazing texture. Would love to wear with a leather pant.
I love Sunspel sweaters (and t-shirts for that matter). For those unfamiliar, Sunspel is a British heritage brand that has lovely, quality and excellent basics that are perfectly untrendy. This icy blue turtleneck will look so cute with a khaki trouser. And it’s on sale! I bought the camel one at their shop in East London years ago and have worn it to death.
This J.Crew brushed cashmere in navy adds amazing texture to your look. I would love to wear it with a black crepe mini skirt with a sock and sneaker and silver jewelry. The whole site is 40% off BTW. This is your chance to try to look like Olympia Gayot.
How chic is this oversized moss green turtleneck from Naked Cashmere? I can see myself reaching for this a lottttt. Would be perfect with old Levi’s, loafers, and socks. Boom. You’re crushing fall.
The Ref Jadey cashmere is a winner - my favorite sweater last year. I sized up to a large and literally wore nonstop. It’s also the perfect thing to wear on a plane with a baggy jean and leather trench. Check it out in red as well.
And now for some neutrals and more stripes, duh:
Love a chunky ivory knit and this J.Crew one is a nice alt to cable knit. And it’s on sale for $99! I’d like to wear this while eating oysters in Tomales Bay on an unexpectedly sunny day.
This deep V neck from Goop looks dreamy and pretty sexy as far as sweaters go. Definitely giving rich mom energy. Would be chic with a crisp white jean and tousled hair a la GP.
You know that feeling when you’re sick of all your sweaters? Last year, I picked up this sweater from Everlane in beige before a trip to NY and it really gave me a new lease on life! I wore it while browsing the Khaite store and the sales associate complimented me on my “Khaite” sweater! I’d say that’s a pretty convincing endorsement.
I’m sizing up and getting this zip up! Looks way more $$$ than it is. Another great Everlane find. I’ll be wearing this while walking my dog in Venice all season.
Perfect lil cropped v-neck to wear as a top. We all need this and J.Crew does it so well. All the other colors are so cute too.
This Doen sweater is soooo nice in person. The knit and texture is amazing. Pretty much sold out but you can call their store to snag one :)
Ciao Lucia knows how to do a striped sweater. This cotton knit is fab for fall in California and will be great in the warmer months as well.
This cashmere gives peak 90s Cobain vibes but also luxury. Perfect if that’s on your fall moodboard!
Another fab Ciao Lucia cashmere. Love the fit on this. Looks like something you’d find in your grandpa’s closet but in the chicest way possible. Use code MICHELE20 for a nice lil discount!
That’s a wrap on this very cozy edition of Amuse Bouche! I hope you find some sweaters that you love to keep you warm all fall. All of the pieces above plus a few more are linked here! Have a lovely weekend.
