Hi!
Thanks for joining me here. Over the last few years, I’ve become less enthused with sharing all that much on Instagram, yet, I have always loved spreading the word about the things that I love. Those who remember Kissser.com will know! Plus I had not one, but two dreams about starting a Substack so voila! Here I’ll be sharing about anything and everything that I find brings me joy. That’s going to be restaurant roundups, travel guides, favorite hotels, fashion pieces I’m loving, movies, TV and maybe even the occasional book! It’s no secret, I love a good party. I’ll also be sharing my tips and tricks for hosting and a behind the scenes look at how to pull it off. I thought it would be fun to kick off this journey with a round up of my favorite places I stayed last year. Bon Voyage!
Hotel Sanders in Copenhagen is pretty much the perfect hotel. Lit tapered candles everywhere and the coziest Scandi hygge vibes. What made me never want to leave was that everything in the bedrooms feels super high quality and of substance. No paper thin walls or scratchy towels here! The outdoor cafe in front of the hotel is perfect for people watching aka scoping out all the cool Danish fashions.
Villa Avlaki ain’t the easiest place to get to, but the good spots never are! Sifnos is a lovely little Greek island known for its good food. This house, listed by The Collectionist, was a dream to stay in with a few friends. It was just finished this summer, so all the furnishings are very new and up to date. One note, you’ll definitely need a car or scooter to get around the island and explore all the gorgeous beaches and restaurants. Definitely worth the flight to Athens and 3 hour ferry ride.
Our stay at The 22 in London was short but very sweet. The service was top notch which really counts when you’ve just landed off the long flight from LA… in a middle seat. Beautiful rooms, gorgeous glassware, very attentive staff and an iced tea worth writing home about. The bar downstairs is a great spot to have a drink with a friend. Looking forward to returning soon!
Some friends with fabulous taste invited us to stay with them at Les Bords du Lac in Hossegor. Such cool house with classic Basque architecture thats super nice for hosting a group and kids. Hossegor is the surfing capital of France so the town randomly has a bit of a San Diego vibe. I wasn’t blown away by the town or restaurants but the beach, nature and bike rides near the house were awesome. Lots of fun activities if you’re the sporty type. Details inside the house are really nice and excellent service from the team.
Hacienda Los Olivos is a gorgeous house available for rent in Todos Santos. I went there for a photo shoot and loved spending a few days in this oasis. The design is really chic and almost has a bit of a Moroccan vibe. Would be perfect for a girls trip or a long weekend with friends.
We really enjoyed staying at the new-ish Maison Proust hotel perfectly located right in the Marais. Perfect location, opulent interiors inspired by the Parisian salons of the Belle Epoque and Proust’s muses. There’s a beautiful spa and each guest is allotted 1 hour per day of private use. Fab! Also a good spot to have a fancy drink and play backgammon if you find yourself weary from wandering the Marais.
Hotel Rochechoart is a great and not too expensive hotel in Montmartre. As you can see, the views are incredible. Be sure to check out the rooftop bar for 360 views of the entire city. Our room was not that small by Parisian standards and there’s a lot happening in the nearby Pigalle neighborhood. Lovely staff as well.
Bens L’Hotel Palermo is a very chill and well located spot to stay in Buenos Aires. Palermo is a great neighborhood with lots of amazing restaurants like Don Julio and Il Preferido. It’s not the most luxurious hotel in the world, but has a charming courtyard and was perfect for a couple days in the city.
This year I’m hoping to check out Palm Heights in Grand Cayman, Hotel Drei Berge in Switzerland, Hacienda Tamchen in Merida, and forever on the list: the Amangiri. Well that’s all for issue #1! Please let me know if you have any requests and if you end up visiting any of these spots!
Til next time,
Michèle
I want to go to every single one of these hotels!! Thanks for sharing! xdana
