I love New York in springtime. Just got back from a fabulous few days in NY this past week. It was an action packed work trip and a little chilly, but spring was in the air and New Yorkers crowded the sidewalks in summer clothes pretending it was warmer than it was. Saw some old friends, ate some great bites, and did a little window shopping.
Team Lorenza and I went to NY to take part in our first Cherry Bombe Jubilee, what an incredible experience. Cherry Bombe is a fabulous magazine focused on women in the food and beverage world. Each year they throw a conference that celebrates these women IRL! It’s a wonderful day of connection, community, keynote speakers, and delicious snacks. The founder and editor of Cherry Bombe, Kerry Diamond (she is a total gem as her name might suggest) asked if I would like to introduce the Food and Fashion panel. Although I was terrified, I had to say yes to such a cool opportunity! I’d never used a teleprompter or spoke in front of 800 people before, but I’m proud to say it went well! Here’s to doing things that scare you! We also got to hear from food world legends: Madhur Jaffery, Dr. Jessica Harris and Grace Young during the Icons Panel. These women were beyond inspiring and in an apt word, iconic. For the keynote conversation, Claire Saffitz interviewed the delightful Ruth Reichl. She is the author of my favorite book, Save Me the Plums and I look forward to reading her next one, The Paris Novel.
After the panels, my mom and I poured Lorenza during happy hour which was just so much fun. Loved connecting with so many talented, friendly, cool and smart women. If you’re into the food and drink world, I highly recommend attending the Cherry Bombe Jubilee in NY next year orrrr the just announced Wine Country Jubilee in Napa Valley this October!
Thought I’d give you a little NY round up of some of my favorite spots to eat, drink, stay and shop that I try not to miss when I come to town. Mostly LES/downtown based which is where I used to live and where I like to stay! As you may have heard, there’s a reservation shortage happening in NY right now and this is a fascinating article all about it! Fret not, you should be able to get into most of these spots - some newer openings, some classics, but all of them are my MVPs.
